TEACHER NOTE: EVery library has books that they throw out at the end of each year. I gather up those books and save them for the following school year to create bird books. Each student takes a book and then chooses a creative way to fold the pages. They can use scissors if they choose to create a more unique bird book. The trick is to fold every other page into the book so that the pages pop out with each design. I then took fishing string and created a giant loop. The loop was placed into half of the pages of the book and then hung from the other end. Here is a short video I produced while I taught at an inner city high school. It shows the bird books in the main entrance of the school. I also have produced a bird book mobile in the main library of another hight school. Teachers, students and visitors love the environmental vibe it creates.
